Maximum lifetime connected coverage with two active-phase sensors
نویسندگان
چکیده
A sensor with two active phrases means that active mode has two phases, the full-active phase and the semi-active phase, which require different energy consumptions. A full-active sensor can sense data packets, transmit, receive, and relay the data packets. A semi-active sensor cannot sense data packets, but it can transmit, receive, and relay data packets. Given a set of targets and a set of sensors with two active phrases, find a sleep/active schedule of sensors tomaximize the time period duringwhich active sensors form a connected coverage set. In this paper, this problem is showed to have polynomial-time (7.875 + ε)approximations for any ε > 0 when all targets and sensors lie in the Euclidean plane and all sensors have the same sensing radius Rs and the same communication radius Rc with Rc ≥ 2Rs .

Improving Energy-Efficient Target Coverage in Visual Sensor Networks
Target coverage is one of the important problems in visual sensor networks. The coverage should be accompanied with an efficient use of energy in order to increase the network lifetime. In this paper, we address the maximum lifetime for visual sensor networks (MLV) problem by maximizing the network lifetime while covering all the targets. For this purpose, we develop a simulated annealing (SA) ...
متن کاملCoverage for composite event detection in wireless sensor networks
A wireless sensor network can detect single (or atomic) events or composite events. Since sensors are battery powered and in general, it is hard to recharge them, energy management is always an important issue. In this paper, we study the SCED problem; given a wireless sensor network deployed for watching a composite event x1, x2, . . . , xM , design a sensor scheduling mechanism such that the ...
متن کاملLeach Routing Algorithm Optimization through Imperialist Approach
Routing is an important challenge in WSN due to the presence of hundreds or thousands of sensor nodes. Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) is a hierarchical routing and data dissemination protocol. LEACH divides a network domain into several sub-domains that are called clusters. Non-uniformity of cluster distribution and CHs selection without considering the positions of other sens...
متن کاملEnergy-Efficient Connected Coverage of Discrete Targets in Wireless Sensor Networks
A major concern in wireless sensor networks is to maximize network lifetime (in terms of rounds) while maintaining a high quality of services (QoS) at each round such as target coverage and network connectivity. Due to the power scarcity of sensors, a mechanism that can efficiently utilize energy has a great impact on extending network lifetime. Most existing works concentrate on scheduling sen...
متن کاملConfiguring node status in a two-phase tightly integrated mode for wireless sensor networks
In wireless sensor networks, one of the main design challenges is to save severely constrained energy resources and obtain a long system lifetime. Low cost of sensors enables us to initially deploy a large number of sensor nodes in a very high density. Thus, a potential approach to solve a lifetime problem arises. That is to schedule sensor nodes work alternatively by configuring some of them a...
